Greetings Jaguar Parents and Families:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming Principal of Horizon Science Academy Toledo. It is truly a dream come true for me to work with you in this new capacity! As you may already know, I have most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Academics. As the Principal, I will continue to be the academic leader of our school, overseeing all instructional programming in the building, among my other responsibilities.
I come to this new role with 20 years of experience as an educator, 10 of which were spent in the classroom teaching social studies and physical education in local public and parochial schools. In 2003, I was asked to join the founding team of HSAT, helping to establish our school by recruiting our very first student body before our doors opened in the summer of 2004. In more recent years, I have served HSAT as the Assistant Principal of Discipline, the Athletic Director, and as the Assistant Superintendent of the Concept Schools Toledo-area region. Some of you know that I am also a wife of 20 years, a mother of two college students (former HSAT students), a dedicated pet owner (dogs & a HUGE cat), an avid movie watcher, and a college basketball super fan. In my spare time, I am working towards completing a Masters’ degree in Educational Leadership with plans to pursue a Doctorate of Education soon thereafter.
I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to working together with you for the best interests of our children. I have always believed that the main responsibility of a school leader is to put teachers in the best possible position to succeed, as they will, in turn, put children in the best possible position to succeed. That will be my priority, as our dedicated faculty and staff continue to focus all efforts on improving student achievement. I look forward to seeing all of you at the August 8th Orientation! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Rachel Snyder
